Inventorying the birds of Portuguesa, Venezuela, especially the area, Montana Los Pozuelos, with the hope of making it a National Park with added protections. These 3000 hectares of undisturbed mountain forest were known to support 223 species of birds, including 23 migrant species, and contain waterfalls, cloud forests, and the vulnerable Andean Bear (Spectacled Bear.) Educating the community to expand bird observation and scientific recording. A "big day" held in 2024 resulted in the training of 235 people as birdwatching guides and community paraecologiests. The reports that came from these activities increased the number of known species in the state of Portuguesa to 517. In Montana Los Pozuelos the number of known species was increased from 223 to 431.
