Purpose/Mission: 
As the world’s most prestigious wildlife art competition and exhibition, the mission of Wildlife Artist of the Year is to unite art and conservation in powerful, transformative ways. Over the past 17 years, nearly 19,000 artists have participated, raising more than £2 million for the vital work of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. In 2025, my painting was selected as one of only 150 finalist works, granting me the honor of exhibiting at the Mall Galleries in London as part of this celebrated international showcase.

Through entry fees and 50% of artwork sales, Wildlife Artist of the Year (WAY) supports:

  • Anti-poaching and law enforcement efforts (ranger programs, investigations into wildlife crime)

  • Protection of endangered species in their natural habitats (research, monitoring, rescue, conservation)

  • Community engagement and education to foster coexistence (reducing human–wildlife conflict, raising awareness, supporting alternative livelihoods)

  • Advocacy, policy work, and reducing demand for illicit wildlife trade

These combined efforts reflect the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s guiding framework: Fight, Protect, Engage — working from grassroots action to global advocacy.
