The gray morph of this Eastern Screech Owl is beautifully adapted to disappear into the bark of the tree it calls home. Perched at the entrance of its tree hollow, this owl blended so perfectly with its surroundings that it was almost invisible at first glance. In this peaceful afternoon moment, it paused to warm its face in the sunlight - a quiet glimpse of a well-hidden woodland resident resting safely within its shelter.
