This painting was created in studio from a photo I took while travelling and visiting family in northwestern Canada in 2023. I found the color of this Black Bear to be quite interesting. A Black Bear that isn't black... She’s blonde! While black is the most common color for Black Bears, they can also be brown, cinnamon, blonde and even white. Having grown up in northern British Columbia I had seen lots of black bears and even brown ones but never anything lighter. She reminded me of the cinnamon black bears I had heard my dad talk about while I was growing up.
