Always looking for a challenge in my work, I wanted to do an underwater/above water scene. The action of the charging grizzly and the fleeing fish was something I had never tried to paint before. The foam and splash of the water, the wet fur and smoothness of the salmon and stoney river bottom felt like a good combination. The contrasting colours of the red salmon, warm colours of the bear and cool colours of the water are all good complimentary colours for a painting. Overall this painting was a good challenge and a lot of fun!
