The setting for this painting is a group of smaller islands around the Rack Rocks Ecological Reserve. The orca whales portrayed here are the beloved J-Pod. The Orca whale depicted in the middle was named 'Granny' J-2, who biologists believe lived till she was 101 years old, the legacy. The whales leading the way through the passage are Princess Angeline J-17 and her calf, Kiki J-53, the hope. And the big male guarding the back of the group is Big Mike J-26, named after Marine Biologist Michael Biggs, who was resposible for discovering the unique identification markins that each killer whale displayed on their saddlebacks and also their dorsal fins.

10% of sales went to the Ocean Conservancy. Limited edition prints will be available soon
