It's always impressive when an artist is able to capture the essence of an animal in their work, and it seems like Martyn did just that with his carving of this Eagle owl. The fact that he wanted to keep it for himself speaks to the emotional connection he must have had with the piece, as it looked so realistic and had a character of it’s own. It's amazing how much skill and patience it takes to carve and paint a piece like this. Martyn put a lot of effort into making sure every detail was just right, from the shape of the feathers to the coloring of the overall bird. Wood carving is a time-honoured art form that has been practiced for centuries, and it's always impressive to see how artists can turn a simple block of wood into a beautiful work of art. The fact that Martyn was able to capture the essence of the Eagle owl so well is a testament to his talent and dedication to his craft. The Eurasian eagle owl is indeed a magnificent bird that is known for its impressive size and distinctive appearance. They can be found throughout much of Eurasia, from Scandinavia to the Middle East, and are known to inhabit a variety of habitats, including forests, mountains, and grasslands. This was a private commission which has been sold. The height of the bird was 30 inch /76 cm.
