"Kukan" tells the true life story of an ambassador of the art of Falconry. The image referenced for this painting was taken by Dr. Lauren McGough who spent two hunting seasons living with her Kazakh Mentor Kukan and his Golden Eagle Ana. She lived with his family in the Altai Mountains of Mongolia. She captured her first Passage Golden Eagle and trained under Kukan who has since passed. I was so touched by this adventurous story and his love for the Golden Eagle that I asked for permission to paint this noble man and attempt to capture his love for the Eagle and his craft. Prints have been sent to Dr. McGough and Kukan's family. The original has been framed beautifully in a solid wood frame behind museum glass. A favorite piece of mine.
