This painting was rendered en plein air one beautiful evening in November.   I set out to paint this gorgeous sherbert colored sky that had been developing.   Hurrying out the door at 4:30 pm I hoped to be painting no later than 4:45,5:00 at the latest.  At 5:15 I was still racing around looking for a safe place to park and a subject to paint.  Finally at 5:20, I stopped the car where I was, threw my stuff out and began to paint as fast as possible.  The evening was damp and with watercolor this is a huge challenge.   Losing light, the damp night air, I was able to capture the moment as I saw it and this has become one of my favorite paintings.  I hope you can feel the moment with me.   I love the birds on the wire in the distance....heading in to roost for the night....
