This painting is my most prized en plein air moment.   I accomplished this watercolor on a day that was 15 degrees below zero.   I did not use alcohol to stay warm or paint with.  I used only my normal paper, pigments and water.   It was just frigid however the sun was shining and there was no wind.  I paint very quickly (my nickname is "lightening brush")...and I set about painting this scene alla prima.  I had no idea if it would work or not.  The sun kept the paper warm and my speed allowed me to paint faster than the brush could freeze to the paper.   I love this painting because when others say "can't"...I say "can".  This is proof.
