Fous de Bassan
On the cliffs bathed by the waves of the St. Lawrence River,
two Northern Gannets stand side by side,
noble figures of the wind and sea.
Their plumage, pure white tinged with bluish shadows,
captures the light like snow in the summer sun.
Their golden heads, with their soft amber glow,
seem to carry the warmth of the setting sun.
Their piercing blue eyes gaze at the infinite horizon,
where the sky is lost in the foam of the waves.
Around them, the wind sings a song of freedom, space, and loyalty.
These seabirds, faithful to their cliffs,
share a moment of tenderness,
their wings folded against the salty rock.
In this work, all is calm and majestic:
the sea breathes, the light caresses,
and the Northern Gannets, kings of the gulf,
embody the wild beauty of maritime Quebec.
