Biography

Born on July 20, 1959 in Ville Dégelis,Temiscouata County, a great place to observe both aquatic and terrestrial fauna.
I was not intended for a career as a painter. It was while attending a collective animal art exhibition in Québec that I was deeply impressed by this type of art. Sometime later, while discussing animal art at a party with my best friend, I suddenly realized (a strong intuition) that if I admired animal artists so much, it was because I wanted to be like them. So, I made the decision that evening to start my journey in animal art. So, I started by learning to draw realistically. Subsequently, I took watercolor lessons and everything happened naturally. In recent years, the observation of mammals and birds has become a real passion for me. In my pictorial work, I try to convey my love for the wildlife of North America to the observer.
Protecting lakes and shoreline habitats
I serve as secretary of the Association des Riverains du Lac-de-la-Grande-Fourche and sit on the Saint-Hubert Lake Protection Committee. On behalf of the Association, I submitted a brief to Quebec's Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (BAPE) during its review of the PPAW 2 wind farm project (51 turbines). I also sit on my municipality's Urban Planning Advisory Committee, where land-use decisions directly affect shoreline habitats. In June 2026, the Municipality of Saint-Hubert-de-Rivière-du-Loup gave me its "Engaged and Exceptional Citizen" distinction.
Art in service of habitat
I take part in conservation stamp competitions, whose proceeds fund wildlife habitat protection. In 2026, I placed second (tie) in the Fondation de la Faune du Québec competition with Spring Is in the Air (wild turkeys, subject set by the Foundation). I am preparing an entry for the Wildlife Habitat Canada 2028 stamp competition.
Making nature visible
Most people do not realize how rich the wildlife around them is. Through naturalist precision (anatomy, behaviour, habitat, native plants), I aim to make that richness visible, because people protect what they have learned to see.
Organizations supported
I donated my original painting Pygargue à tête blanche (Bald Eagle), acrylic on board, 10 x 14 in., to the Union québécoise de réhabilitation des oiseaux de proie (UQROP), Quebec's bird of prey rehabilitation organization, for its November 2026 benefit auction. 100% of the sale price goes to UQROP to support the care and release of injured raptors. The choice of subject is deliberate: in Quebec, the Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is officially designated as a vulnerable species.
