Conservation

"Despite government regulations and the valiant efforts of conservation organizations worldwide, the extinction rate, which is now 1,000 times the normal rate, has only been reduced by 20%. Science dictates that in order to maintain ecosystem functions and avoid total collapse, we must conserve half the planet’s land and sea.  To achieve these ends, the Half Earth Project is mapping the entire globe, identifying areas with the most biodiversity, proposing corridors to link them, combining preservation, restoration and expansion. I donate half of the proceeds from the sale of my work to conservation organizations including the Center for Biological Diversity, the Half Earth Project, Wildlife Conservation Network and the Orangutan Project International

As my mentor of over thirty years, cultural historian Thomas Berry explained, “While the human cannot make a blade of grass, there is [liable] not to be a blade of grass unless it is accepted, protected and fostered by the human.”
