Floating Heart
All my original designs are manually cut from a single sheet of paper, with a scalpel. The artwork is better displayed in a double glass frame, to allow it to cast shadows. Please note that the fine art prints do NOT show off the shadow work.
This paper cut was inspired by an experience I had with a 10 years old kid, who taught me how to fly a kite on children’s day, under an incredible sunset.
While we played, he talked admiringly about his father, the person who taught him how to fly a kite, and who’d been waiting for over 2 years to get a heart transplant.
I listened, caringly, and shared a bit of my feelings from when my own father had cardiac complications. At the end, I asked for a hug, and he melted over in my arms.
This design came to me afterwards, and represents our loves, our bonds, and emotional memories of better days, which will stay with our loved ones forever, no matter what comes. Of what we want to pass on to our children. Art is also a form of prayer.
