Asha Is My Name
Asha was born in 1982/1983 in Zimbabwe. When she was a calf, the Zimbabwe government ordered the culling of her entire family, leaving her orphaned and alone. A wild animal broker sent two-year-old Asha to the United Stated where she was sold to the owners of a roadside zoo in Natural Bridge Zoo, Virginia. Asha has spent her entire life at this facility living alone and giving rides to zoo visitors like an amusement park attraction.
Throughout the years, the zoo has received substantial fines and numerous violations regarding the treatment and care of Asha yet she lives a life of imprisonment because bureaucrats and
politicians have not granted her the ability to live out her life at a sanctuary with other elephants.
John P. Stimson, Esq. of Elephant Advocates is her advocate (818) 905-9246.
