Painted en plein air on 3/22/21 & 3/23/21 at Belle Isle State park. Seasonal controlled burns have been conducted on Walpole Island First Nation since pre-European settlement in the area. The tradition of burning off dead growth preserves historic ecosystems, clears marshes for trapping & hunting, and fertilizes soil.
