African Queen
This scene features a cheetah I encountered in Kenya just after finishing her meal. Her belly was very full at the time, I wanted to honor this graceful creature in her reclining pose. The decision to add the 2 cubs to the scene was based on another sighting of a female with her cubs in the same area.
Some facts about the cheetah: Cheetahs tend to be introverted, they can run speeds of 60-75 mph., but are timid predators, only 5%of cubs survive to adulthood, live cubs are caught and traded illegally to the exotic pet trade; they are also poached for their skin, human-wildlife conflict and habitat loss threatens their survival, the cheetah's conservation status is vulnerable edging on endangered.
