Spirit of the Horse
Each year, the wild horses of American, the American Mustang, are in peril of being moved out of grazing land, rounded up by helicoptors to be put into captivity, and losing their freedom. The need protection from the increasingly constriction of their very small allocations of grazing land and fresh water sources. The mustang is relagated to some of the least viable habitats in our wild lands of North America. Often without good consistant clean water resources and nutritional grasses, they are in continual peril of losing places to live. Many do not realize that the horse is actually a native species of North America. While they migrated over the Bering Straight millenia ago, they did not all migrate and continued to live here until at list 5,000 years ago -- and who knows how much longer they remained before disappearing from their homeland. They were brought back by the Spanish starting in 1519, and eventually herds began to run free again here, becoming the wild Mustangs.
The original is this beautiful horse is 20"x20" and is my own private collection. While the original is not for sale, the Signed Fine Art Giclee reproductions are available in this full size, as well as 2 smaller sizes. The feathers symbolize the horse's freedom to run free. I want the viewer to connect with the spirit of the horse and feel connection between that beautiful spirit and our own spirits as human beings.I am a champion of the wild horses of America and it is my intention to do whatever I can to help them through my creative efforts. Proceeds from the purchase of my giclees of this painting will go to the Cloud Foundation.
