The original of this piece is a Colored Pencil Painting of the sweet Desert Cottontail, found in here in the southwest region of the US. They play an intregral part in our desert ecosystem. They are herbivores, eating 90% of their diet on grasses but also eating mesquite peas, pears from the prickly pear cacti and barks. They rarely need to drink, getting most of their moisture from dew and from the vegetation that they eat.

While they are not currently listed on the endangered species list, the loss of habitat and human encroachment continue, setting up imbalances in the environement. This gentle Desert Cottontail reminds us to preserve our wildlands and creatures.
