I was able to capture some beautiful reference photos while taking an evening walk along the beach near Watsonville, CA, USA. I was assisting with some new exhibitry at the visitor center of the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve near Monterey Bay. What a beautiful area of the country to explore. I was very impressed with the sunsets here and this painting is one example of my efforts to paint them.
