During last year's Artist for Conservation festival in Vancouver, I was thrilled to meet Luna, a Western Screech Owl, one of the Educational Ambassadors at OWL Orphaned Wildlife. I love owls and this was my very first time being so close to one. I was so taken by diminutive stature, and HUGE personality, that I decided to make a permanent imprint of him on canvas.

OWL's primary goal and mission is to rehabilitate and release sick, injured, or orphaned raptors back into the wild. In some cases where a raptor suffers a permanent injury which makes them unable to survive in the wild, they become Educational Ambassadors, just like Luna, helping to educate the public about raptors and environmental conservation or they become foster parents to orphaned babies and comapnions to other raptors going through their facility.
