A large bole of a myrtlewood tree with exceptional burl grain is sculpted into a seal inspired by an artistic field study to Lake Baikal, Russia.   With considerable effort the medium, a rare gem of exotic wood, was salvaged from a mountain side in the Pacific Coast Range.
