Hiking allows me to view such unique sights and this one did not dissapoint.  Set against all the green foliage was this one little viceroy butterfly. The dramatic contrast in color, along with the unusual habitat location, beckoned me to paint this scene.  

Painting alone dimensions are 14 x 18".  The painting is encased in my signature live edge wooden frame.  Framed oil painting dimensions are 18” x 22”.
