Original framed acrylic painting on canvas of a whale swimming towards an ocean sunset, with two gulls in tow. I painted this after spending a lot of time on the beach, both on the Maine and New Hampshire coasts, as well as off Ireland and Scotland. The ocean is so vast, making even the largest inhabitants appear tiny. Framed painting dimensions are 16.5" square. Hanging hardware affixed to rear of canvas.
Humpback whales have been exessively hunted in previous decades. Luckily, their resiliance and protection since 1966 have improved their numbers substantially in many areas. Threats from entanglement with fishing gear and ship strikes often prove fatal.
