Sanctuary
I was perched precariously on the banks of the Ottauquechee River with my canvas, a slew of poison ivy below me, as well as the possibility of a very painful slide over rocks into deep water. And, not to mention the curious bystanders that would witness such a tumultuous event... However, in the process of creating this aquatic oil painting, I was rewarded with days of painting in the fresh air while watching the antics of a flock of playful mergansers, and winning both the Best Riparian and People's Choice Awards for the 2018 VINS Art Exhibit.
Using my favorite medium - water mixable oils -I painted this piece entirely plein air (outside, on site), varnished it after six months of drying time and placed it in a striking antique frame. Framed acrylic painting dimensions are 12.5” x 22.5”.
