Bold Starling
I watched a stand of staghorn sumacs growing on my property, from small saplings to 20 feet high mature trees. In a short time, butterflies sheltered among its leaves, and birds of all types flocked to feast on its flowers. This oil painting depicts a lone starling that I found roosting atop its strong flower stalk.
The painting is accentuated in my signature live edge wooden frame. Framed oil painting dimensions are 10" x 13".
Starlings are declining in some rural areas, possibly due to agricultural and habitat changes. These declines have coincided with reduction in cattle farming.
