"The elephant herd is a matriarchy, consisting only of females and their offspring. Males live alone or in bachelor herds. This angry clan leader (the biggest, oldest cow elephant) was defending her young against adolescent males who were sporting too close to her newborn. Eventually she will be telling those adolescent males (not long ago babies themselves) to 'get lost'. They will have to obey, and will wander off to find a bachelor herd."
