Wigeon Drake in spring
There is a field about five minutes from my home that is flooded during the winter and spring. It is a reliable draw to a wide variety of birds. I really appreciate being able to pop down there even when I don't have much time for I almost always come away with something interesting to explore in a painting. Wigeons are common in the area where I live but I think they are beautiful and I enjoyed portraying this handsome fellow as he gently moved from the bank before me. I loved the light in this scene as well, and I decided to stop painting at this point for I felt I had finally captured the feel of that beautiful day.
