27th Annual National Juried Maritime Exhibit, Featured Artist
11 Jul, 2021 to 26 Sep, 2021
As Guest Featured Artist of the 27th Annual National Maritime Exhibition, I have an opportunity to shift the focus from boats and ships to that of marine life. I have lived near the Oregon coast since 1995, first on the Elk River north of Port Orford and now in Coquille, about 30 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, and have a wonderful collection of photos and sketches to represent my time spent outdoors. This coastal reference I have collected is what I am using for this body of work. I gathered this imagery with paintings in mind, and am very excited about this chance to not only create a body of work representing the natural beauty and wildlife of this area, but to gently suggest that we appreciate, respect and protect the wildlife and habitat of our beautiful coastline.
Update: Due to the Coronavirus issues the world is dealing with at this time, this exhibit has been postponed to 2021.
