Large and In Charge
Looking for something unique is not easy with this subject but while sorting through a luxurious amount of information I remembered hearing her handler say 'this is a specific behavior' as I was shooting. The bird was taking a large stance to establish her importance; unlike fluffing when threatened, it was dignified and she rules this home. 'Eagleness'! I noticed how she optimized the light to keep an eye on me, light glancing through the back of the eyeball to open the pupil and the shadow of the brow cutting the glare for her, creating that small but powerful apex of light. The abstract pattern formed by the cast shadows of the lifted coveret feathers climb up to that.
