Edward Suthoff grew up in South Mississippi, near the Pascagoula River. It was there that he started duck hunting at an early age and was first inspired to sketch and paint wildlife and waterfowl.

After high school Edward began entering his paintings in his states waterfowl stamp contest, which he won in 1993 at the age of 22. There were 40 entries from 17 states entered in the competition. Since then, he has entered numerous wildlife and waterfowl stamp contest around the country.
