This bronze began life as a decorative tupelo wood carving.  The “sharpy” is generally a bird-hunting forest hawk.  Designed for agility and speed, to hunt among the trees, one is likely to see this hawk stalking a possible meal around our bird feeders.  If you are outside and suddenly realize that all of your birds have suddenly disappeared, and it is silent, take a careful look around.  Often you will spot a Sharpshin or a Cooper’s hawk perched somewhere close by, checking out the menu.  Guess we all like the convenience of a 'super market'!
