This sculpture began with an early summer trip into the Pryor Mountains on the Wyoming/Montana border, to witness the famous Pryor Mountain wild horse bands.  As the second wild mustang refuge in the United States, this 39,650 acre wild horse refuge was established in 1968 as a federally-designated area for the protection and management of wild horses, wildlife and archaeological sites.

Every foal, whether wild or domestic, eventually has to face its first water crossing - just one more new adventure in a world of new experiences. This new baby, gingerly emerging from the stream, follows her mother's hoof prints leading from the water's edge to higher ground. There her mother waits, patiently calling encouragement for her baby to take the plunge.  Finally catching up, they continue their journey of exploration to a new feeding area.

(Without Granite Base - $855.00)
