Nest Site
While serving as Artist in Residence in Badlands National Park I came across an area of barn swallow housing under an overhanging cliff. There were houndreds of individual nests all over the area. The nests were all in a variety of construction to complete to broken. I created a color scheme with the nests that made the light seem transparent in some areas. The softness of the paint application and use of color took these mundane, colorless nests to a new level. I planted a single swallow within the nests to create a narrative of your choice.
