This painting was started with an arcylic pour to create an abstract image of aspen leaves.  The acrylic pour is very fluid and difficult to control.  Once the background pour is dry I go in and decide where and how many birds will work into the image to create a pleasing composition.  The birds are then painted in oils as the thin layers of paint lets the acrylic background show through in many areas repeating an abstract appearance.
