Water is an important element, or the main element, in much of the landscape around the country. In this workshop, we will learn ways to approach painting this challenging subject matter with a dry medium – it is easier than it would seem! There will be a couple of short demonstrations of how to paint different kinds of water, and then students will do a water painting of their choice, working from their own photographs. Pastel is the perfect medium to learn more about the importance of getting your values, colors and big shapes correct in your paintings! It is a very forgiving medium if one proceeds properly, and corrections can be made easily along the way, with no waiting for paint to dry.
