What a cool experience to see and hear a young Great Gray Owl. This September surprise encounter was in the Teton Mountains east of Driggs, Idaho, on the road to the Grand Targhee ski area. While Great Gray Owls are not endangered, logging and especially clear cutting continue to be a potential threat to these boreal owls.
