My outdoor explorations inspire me to paint the beauty of the winter season, especially the Okanagan mountain slopes that I return to in late November near a familiar snowshoe trail. The sunlit snow-laden trees always attract me at this time of year. After some initial sketches, I like to build up the surface of the canvas with a lot of glazing and scumbling in the foreground.
