It is very satisfying for the human spirit to canoe around Vaseux Lake, which is a national waterfowl sanctuary. The multitude of opportunities to view rare wildlife species, including the California Bighorn sheep to the east, and to observe the shoreline bird habitat is a key source of inspiration for an artist. It is one of the most peaceful places in the Okanagan, south of Okanagan Falls and north of Oliver, due to the fact that only non motorized boats are allowed on the lake. Painting the shimmering clouds in the sky above MacIntyre Bluff, and the reflection of the clouds below captures the sense of spirit and place. The McIntyre Bluffs are the site of a large concentration of native pictographs with a long and distinguished history, located at the south end of the McIntyre Canyon Regional Park adjacent to the south end of Vaseux Lake.
