This painting was all about capturing the subtle delicate quality of mood, light and atmosphere. The Checkmate Winery is above the valley in the South Okanagan, on the west side. This landscape depicts the charming little village of Osoyoos with it’s patchwork of vineyards and cottages in the distance. The countryside has been a source of inspiration for me over the years with its rolling hills. The colours of the sky set the mood for this painting. Since the vineyards are made up of a variety of greens, a secondary colour, the cottages with their primary colour of cadmium red provide points of interest.
