Wolf is loyal and tough, surviving brutal persection.  Wolves once roamed freely in North America, numbering and estimated 2 million.  We almost lost them, but they have made some rebounds since protection was given to them in 1960.  Still only occupying 10 percent of the historic range, they are in some places actually mixing with the coyote in order to adapt.

This tondo painting is about the freedom of exploration and expanding ones range, as both human and wolf do.  I can only image making room for this predator here in the NW.   This one is looking at the town of Astoria, as I did when I was wanting to escape the confines of Los Angeles.
