I decided to combine two of my favorite animals in one painting.  I was recently reading about the idea of turtle island, and I find it enormously appealing to think that the continent is a giant turtle, carrying us all around in it's own home.  Raven ranges a lot farther than turtle, and has the ability to see the world from a distance.  I liked the idea of him hitching a ride with a friend.
