Joy Bird
How does one paint a joy bird? People in Palestine risk their lives to see one of these special sunbirds. Birders venture out of the villages to the hills where they might get picked off by soldiers. The males sunbird is a stunning iridescent little gem. Females blend in. They aren’t humming birds and they don’t hover for nectar, but hang on with their feet to drink. It’s considered a blessing to see one. I am aching for the people and life there in Palestine.
This painting hovered on realism and Impressionism. That may be my sweet spot, not sure. Sometimes I want to paint every single thing, sometimes I want a less hyper focus. I really wanted it to shine.
