In Times Past - Coyote
This piece was created using a coyote skull from a friend's collection. There are a few more in that collection coming soon. The newspaper dates from 1877, Canadian Illustrated News, December 15. It has the reproduction etching on it from the artist Gustav Schauer (Germany - 1826 - 1902) called "King Lear and the Fool". This paper was originally found in an old book shop in Toronto and I grabbed it because of the music that was in it but it has now served another purpose! You can see a bit of the fool's hat and, if you peer closely you will see part of King Lear's face between the jaws.
This still life style called Memento Mori (loosely translated as Remember Death) will be done using animal skulls to try to make a more poignant call towards conservation.
