These majestic great grey owls are a rare sight where we live. But the severe winter weather of 2005 drove hundreds south where they were admired by many and were also the subject of a few newspaper articles. Spending most of their lives north of Lake Superior, they are not accustomed to people and as a result show no visible concern or fear of them. I was able to get close enough to this striking bird to get excellent reference photos from many angles and interesting poses.
