"What I know I do: mostly listen and look. And I make my art. What else can I do? What will work to lighten the pressure on other creatures? It works best for me if I give some of the money you use to purchase my art to a cause/organization of your choice. It doesn't have to be what is traditionally thought of as a conservation organization because helping young girls get an education can circuitously connect eventually with something like improved farming practices; assistance with simple sustainable technology like solar power can lead to less human pressure on the forests and the animals in them.   What if our busyness amounts to nothing? What if the smell of the pine tree, the sight of the soaring bird, and the sound of the wind is everything?

Chris Maynard's mission is to, "promote understaning and appreciation of the natural world". He supports nonprofit causes for specific projects such as land acquisition and conservation and projects of the art collector's choice that might seem less related to traditional conservation but nevertheless help to improve our world. Another way he does this is through partnership auctions. For instance, in 2017 he collaborated with the two million member World Parrot Trust to auction two originals and five prints. The proceeds were split to go for conservation of the endangered great green macaw in Costa Rica which were used for education, research, and reintroduction.
