These doves are as beautiful as their name suggests. They are very hard to locate in the rainforests of eastern and northern Australia, but frequently give away their location by the sound of falling fruit. As with most rainforest dwellers their habitat is under continual attack from the pressures of clearing for agriculture. These doves are such a delight to see in the wild especially when dappled light highlights the birds' many iridescent colors."
