When visiting a local zoo, as usual I was smitten with the wolves. As I was admiring the thick winter coat of "Tamarack", for some reason I started to howl. He happily howled back, setting off all the wolves to howl from their various enclosures. I will never forget being surrounded by such a baritone and powerful sound, and I wanted to capture that feeling in this painting.
