The Artist

"Today, I walk into an art store and feel the same thrill I felt receiving my first box of paints at the age of seven. I am passionate about wildlife and feel honoured to spend my days replicating what I see and feel each time I take to the trails or simply sit on my deck watching the quails waddle by. "

A leap of faith. That’s what I’d call my decision to leave a successful career in England for a new start in a Canadian town unlike any I’d lived in before.

Chosen five times for the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum, Birds in Art, and three times Canadian Ducks Unlimited National Art Portfolio winner, British Columbia artist Julia Hargreaves trained in England and graduated with a masters degree in art from Manchester Metropolitan University.

More recently Julia was one of eight artists out of an exhibition of 200 artworks  being awarded the Artists For Conservation Award of Excellence.

Hargreaves has had her art published internationally; in 2008, she illustrated Birdscapes: A Pop-Up Celebration of Bird Songs in Stereo Sound.
