"Jelly Side Up" is just a fun little bronze I wanted to create. When I see jellies in the wild or in an aquarium setting, I find them mesmerizing and fascinating. Their hypnotic undulations truly draw ones awareness into the present. The title is a play on the good luck we would have as children when we would drop our jelly bread, and it would land "Jelly Side Up." The sculpture and base are bronze the finish is created with layers of clear acrylic and an iridescent lavender pigments. The center of the underside was actually designed by dipping Kale into hot wax and casting the form into bronze.
